Coming here makes an occasion whether you are catching up with friends for a weekend of it, hanging out with colleagues for a conference session, joining family for a wedding/significant birthday or just taking a break from the city, we specialise in making your occasion relaxed and memorable.

The energetic types will be looking to check out the Waikato River Cycle Trails nearby, or spectacular sealed scenic road loops, they cater for all road cyclists’ abilities and levels of stamina. We can arrange drop off and pickup and have a special secret Out in the Styx cycle route from Leamington in Cambridge to Rhubarb Café in Arapuni which includes a river crossing by boat. Hiking Maungatautari – take the shuttle to the Northern Enclosure and hike back via the old scrambling route or the new metalled track, arrive back at Out in the Styx for a welcome spa, yummy dinner and a comfy bed, or just walk quietly as far as you wish on our side of the mountain and enjoy the rejuvenating flora and fauna. Golf – we are within 40 minutes’ drive of 14 golf courses – a perfect challenge for the dedicated golfing group – visit annually and “knock them all off”
Kayaking/Fishing/Water Sport enthusiasts have the Mighty Waikato River in all its guises to play on or in. Kayak the full 22km of Lake Arapuni, do a spot of water-skiing or quietly fish away the afternoon.

Those looking for a less taxing pastime can enjoy a drive and a wander amongst the many local towns and their surrounds which boast both scenic and historic attractions. Your hosts will offer a wealth of information on whatever may pique your interest – be it the movie set tours at Hobbiton, the wonderful Blue Springs or Over The Moon Cheeses in Putaruru, the boutique gift shops of Tirau or the great markets, galleries and cafes in nearby Cambridge. A self drive tour of historic points of interest relating to the Waikato Wars, or a visit to the Putaruru Timber Museum maybe more your thing, and Te Awamutu is the hometown of well-known NZ musicians Tim & Neil Finn – visit the exhibition detailing their rise to international fame.
